Blu-Ray Programming On DISH Network
?
Do you
have a 1080p (Ten-Eighty-P )
television ? Don’t know what that is ? OK, no problem. Let me
try and explain it in layman’s terms. You have 720p
and 1080p. I’m talking about those LCD and plasma TV’s by the
way. When you buy one try and get the 1080p ones as those are
the ones that have the best picture quality. Ever watched a
Blu-Ray (or HD-DVD) before ? Notice how amazing the images are
? Well, that is due to the superior imaging quality of 1080p
projectors. Don’t get me wrong, 720p’s are also great, but I’d
go with the 1080p’s if given the chance (and the
money).
Why am I urging you to
opt for one and not the other ? Dish Network,
the nation’s (America, that is) 3rd largest
pay-TV provider, has partnered with television network
A&E to provide its popular series, The
Beast, in 1080 resolution ! That is an industry
first ! All Dish Network subscribers who have a 1080p TV
(which aren’t that expensive anymore so no excuses), an
MPEG-4 HD DVR, and enjoy watching The Beast
(starring Patrick Swayze) can catch their favorite episodes
in BluRay-like quality. Oh yea, one last thing. You need a
broadband internet connection for this.
The way it works is that
on the day following the airing of an episode you will go to
Dish Network’s Internet Protocol Video-On-Demand platform and
download whatever episode you want to watch. Yes, I said
download ! You need a DVR in order to be able to take advantage
of this “privilege”. You can’t do that with your DVD player,
can you ? Thought so.
Dish Network’s
ViP®722 HD DVR has won more Editor’s Choice
Awards than any other receiver in the industry. One can store
up to 500 hours of programming. OK, back to the main focus of
this article; 1080p (or “BluRay” programming).
If you are already a
Dish Network customer this is how to access your
content;
-
Press the DVR button on
your remote control
-
Select DishONLINE. You will
then be presented with a list of programming
followed by “1080p” after the titles.
-
Select what you want to
watch,
-
Watch it !
Easy as 1-2-3 (and 4)
!
Dish Network also has
the industry’s first and only all-HD programming package known
as TurboHD. This comes in three separate tiers (TurboHD Bronze,
TurboHD Silver, and TurboHD Gold) starting at a low monthly
price of $24.99. With this you can also get 1080p programming,
where available.
